Holistic Treatment Options for Cancer Patients in Texas
At St. Thomas & St. Croix Cancer Specialists, people don’t just come for treatment. They come to recover in a setting that feels far from clinical. Our patients from Texas choose us for the advanced cancer treatment options available in the U.S. Virgin Islands, but they often leave talking about the sense of calm they were able to find here. With expert care and the steady calm of the sea, many patients find room to heal in ways they didn’t expect.
Why Texas Patients Trust St. Thomas & St. Croix Cancer Specialists
Many of our Texas patients say the difference is clear the moment they arrive. Here, your care is never rushed. With a low patient-to-provider ratio, our team has the time and space to truly listen, tailoring each plan around your needs, your goals and your life. Our board-certified oncologists are trained in the U.S. and offer leading-edge therapies from genetic profiling to immunotherapy, chemotherapy and beyond.
Beyond clinical care, our location itself plays a role in healing. The serenity of island life helps ease the mental and emotional strain that comes with a cancer diagnosis. We offer counseling, group support and a care team known for their warmth and dedication. Travel is straightforward from major U.S. airports, making this one of the most accessible out-of-country treatment options for Texas residents seeking expert care in a restorative setting.

No, U.S. citizens don’t need a passport to travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands. Because the USVI is a U.S. territory, travel from the mainland is considered domestic. That said, you should still bring a government-issued photo ID for airport security and check-in.
-
Yes, a standard U.S. driver’s license is valid for travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands. However, starting May 7, 2025, the TSA requires all travelers using a driver’s license to present a REAL ID-compliant version. If your license isn’t compliant, you’ll need an alternate form of identification like a U.S. passport or a DHS Trusted Traveler card such as Global Entry.
Without a REAL ID, you may still be allowed to fly domestically, but you could experience longer screening times. Check your ID status and plan ahead by visiting tsa.gov.

There’s no time limit for U.S. citizens visiting the U.S. Virgin Islands and no visa or special paperwork required. And with nonstop and connecting flights from major Texas airports, including George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, reaching St. Thomas or St. Croix is quicker than many expect. If you need help coordinating travel, our Nurse Navigator team is here to support you before, during and after your visit.
