Holistic Treatment Options for Cancer Patients in North Carolina
At St. Thomas & St. Croix Cancer Specialists, care is about more than medicine — it’s about creating space to truly heal. Patients from North Carolina come for the advanced cancer treatments available in the U.S. Virgin Islands, but it’s the restorative environment that often leaves the biggest impression. Surrounded by the ocean and supported by a compassionate team, many discover a kind of peace and progress they can’t find elsewhere.
Why North Carolina Patients Trust St. Thomas & St. Croix Cancer Specialists
Patients from North Carolina often say they feel a difference here right away. We designed our practice to give our team the unique ability to spend more time understanding each case and building treatment plans that reflect each individual’s medical needs, personal goals, and lifestyle.
Care doesn’t stop at the clinical level, either. Our location supports emotional healing as much as physical recovery. Onsite counseling and family support are part of the experience, and the natural calm of the islands creates a sense of peace that’s hard to find elsewhere. With direct flights from Charlotte and other major North Carolina cities, getting here is easier than most patients expect — and often a welcome step toward recovery.

No. U.S. citizens do not need a passport when traveling to the U.S. Virgin Islands. Since the territory is part of the United States, flights from the mainland are considered domestic. A government-issued photo ID is still recommended for airport and travel purposes.
-
Yes, as long as your license is REAL ID-compliant. Starting May 7, 2025, the TSA will require that state-issued driver’s licenses meet REAL ID standards for domestic air travel. If your ID isn’t compliant, you’ll need another approved document, such as a valid U.S. passport or Global Entry card.
Travelers without a REAL ID may still be permitted to board but should allow extra time for security screening. Visit tsa.gov to confirm your ID status before flying.
-
There are no stay limits for U.S. citizens, and no visa is required. Because the USVI is a U.S. territory, you’re free to stay as long as you need for treatment and recovery. With direct and connecting flights from airports like Charlotte Douglas International, travel is relatively quick and convenient. Our Nurse Navigator team is available to help with logistics and planning before your journey begins.
-

-
Yes, absolutely. Patients always have the right to choose their providers and treatment centers. You may want to consider medical expertise, treatment availability, insurance coverage, and travel ease when making your decision.
